MIKAYEL BALYAN (AUSTRIA)
A distinguished pianist and specialist in the performance and historical interpretation of early music, Mikayel Balyan returns to Yerevan with a thoughtfully curated program spanning the Classical, Romantic, and contemporary repertoire.
Over the past fifteen years, Balyan has combined an active international concert career with his academic work at the Universities of Music in Vienna and Linz. He has appeared at some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls and festivals, including the Wiener Musikverein, Salzburger Festspiele, Musikfest Bremen, and Festival Radovljica. His recordings have been released by Sony Classical, Genuin, Musique Suisse, Vivat, and Prima Classic.
A special highlight of the evening will be the performance of Mikhail Kokzhaev’s piano cycle, presented in celebration of the composer’s jubilee year. Kokzhaev, together with pianist Svetlana Navasardyan and musicologist Christopher Stembridge, played a formative role in shaping Mikayel Balyan’s artistic vision.

• Franz Schubert – Piano Sonata in A minor, D 537
• Johannes Brahms – 4 Ballades, Op. 10
• Mikhail Kokzhaev – 4 Pieces from Stained Glass and Murals
Through Balyan’s distinctive interpretative approach, the program brings together musical thought from different eras, revealing the richness and continuity of the European piano tradition.
The evening will include a refined wine reception by Armenia Wine Company.
